I read somewhere Yorkfield processors are being nixed by Intel/MS with Win 10, could this be the start of that flushing of legacy hardware in a new MS OS? Am open to any thoughts, please. Is the thing causing the fail have something to do with when I did the 771/775 conversion 'fail' on the Q8400? Seeing as I seem to remember that I had to run something after converting to the LGA771 E5450 to get it to run (I didn't re-run IPDT after returning the Q8400 so it might have been there all this time with the reinstalled Q8400)? The specific failure block from IPDT is pasted below.ĭetected: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 2.66GHz That stopped the IPDT from running until I shut off the fail/stop and the testing passed everything else. I downloaded/installed IPDT (latest) and ran it. OK, so I returned the Q8400 and all seemed fine. Since I had to unplug the case card reader from MB, I went ahead and tried putting the E5450 back in but it would only loop to POST then restart. Two days ago, I had a card reader fail/lock the system. Then, sometime around mid 2019, I updated this machine to win 10 Pro (from 7 Ultimate). I put the Q8400 back in and all seemed fine (never determined why the comp was acting up when I returned the Q8400 so I left it in). After converting to a E5450 from a Q8400 (771 to 775 mod) in Win 7 waaaaaay back Dec 2016, I was having a problem with the computer slowing down (around mid 2018).
